His stunning take on The Rite of Spring evokes both a misty ancient past and a powerful vision of the future. Driven by the primal energy of Stravinsky's famously provocative score, a lone human figure emerges from the chaos to lead the audience on a breathtaking voyage into Twist's endless imagination.
THE DANCING FOX: WISDOM TALES OF THE MIDDLE EAST Mettawee River Theatre Company
5th – 14th September 2014
Catherdral of St. John the Divine, Bishop's Green 1047 Amsterdam Ave. New York, NY
For 2014 we are taking a fresh look at the show we first produced in 2003, THE DANCING FOX: Wisdom Tales of the Middle East. The material is gathered from the shared folk traditions of Jews and Arabs, including the writings of Sufi mystics, along with fables and folklore of the region. In these tales we encounter some clever foxes, dim-witted fish, a vengeful snake and other colorful creatures, as well as a number of wise and foolish humans. New perspectives emerge from the comic twists and tragic turns of their adventures. A variety of masks, puppets and giant figures will be used to flesh out the particular realm of each tale.
