UK/ Heritage Lottery Fund – Understanding the First World War

Thanks to Peter MacDonald and the Puppeteers UK newsletter for drawing our attention to the Heritage Lottery Fund’s on-going project supporting works helping our understanding of the First World War in the run-up to the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of the War this summer.

4th August 2014 marks the 100th anniversary of the start of the First World War. As we approach this important Centenary, people of all ages throughout the United Kingdom will be reflecting on the events of the First World War, the experiences of men and women here and overseas, and how the war has shaped the last 100 years.
Heritage Lottery Fund can provide funding to help groups, communities and organisations mark the Centenary by exploring, conserving and sharing the heritage of the First World War, from memorials, buildings and sites, to photographs, letters and literature. The heritage of the First World War includes anything relating to the First World War that we value and want to pass on to future generations – see examples of the heritage your project might explore.
