UK/ DIFFERENT MOONS is the project being created with local people from a South Asian background in Rossendale, Lancashire, to develop and explore their histories and culture through the arts, and to produce an archive of their stories. Led by Bob Frith (Horse + Bamboo) and the poet Shamshad Khan, with support from henna artist Habiba Shenza, and with other artists including paper artist Maryam Golubeva, and Phil Milston, the idea is to rediscover and recall stories, especially the experiences of the first generations to arrive in England. The stories of the immigrants who were invited to work in the textile mills, starting in the 1950s, have been overlooked for generations.
