UK/ 26th SOUTHEND PIER PUPPET FESTIVAL
2nd and 3rd August 2014
This festival, featuring Mr Punch, started in 1988. This year sees 3 Southend Punch Professors – Prof Jo, Caroline Alexander, and Chris Gasper – joined by favourites Mrs Back to Back from Kent, Geoff Felix from Wembley, and Chippy Wood from Surrey. All Professors bring their own exciting interpretation of this traditional entertainment. With 6 shows to entertain, visitors young and old are in for a treat.
There is no charge for the shows that will be performed in and around the Royal Pavilion at the Pier head. All you pay for is the pier entrance. A family ticket for parents and 3 children is just £10. Punch shows will start when the 11.00 AM train from the shore arrives and continue until to 5.00 PM each day.
The Royal Pavilion will also include a colouring workshop and an exhibition showing the history of Mr Punch and Memorabilia. Youngsters can also pick up a modelled balloon and have their face painted.
