PROGRESS REPORT
UNIMA’s World Encyclopaedia of Puppetry Arts (WEPA) project is making good progress.
Karen Smith, president of UNIMA’s Publication and Communication Commission, announced during the recent UNIMA Council in Cuba that the English translation of the encyclopaedia has been completed!
And to date, approximately 90% of the Spanish translation is done and the full Spanish translation will be completed by September 2014.
These two new language versions of the World Encyclopedia of Puppetry Arts are more than just a simple translation from the French first edition. This second edition includes corrections, updates and new articles, as well as many new photos and images.
UNIMA is now in the process of preparing the WEPA as an online publication. By 2015, WEPA will appear on the UNIMA website.
Congratulations to Karen and everyone involved with this huge project. Special thanks too to BrUNIMA’s Penny Francis who, amongst others, has been tireless in her pursuit of finding accurate information to represent the best of puppetry in the UK in the best English. Good luck and patience to everyone finishing off the Spanish translation. The end is in sight!
