CALL FOR PAPERS: Theatralia Journal of Theatre Studies, 2026/1
An Opportunity for Puppetry Scholars – Submission Deadlines Approaching
BrUNIMA is pleased to highlight a fantastic opportunity for puppetry researchers and practitioners: a call for papers for the 2026/1 issue of Theatralia: Journal of Theatre Studies. This upcoming issue, titled "Puppetry with(out) Classics", will explore the adaptation (or avoidance) of classical works within puppetry.
Scholars are invited to submit research articles (4,000–7,000 words) for Yorick, the journal’s peer-reviewed section, as well as shorter contributions (1,000–1,500 words) for the Events, Archive, and Review sections. The focus will be on how puppetry engages with canonical texts, from Sophocles to Stoppard, and the ways in which the medium transforms traditional theatrical storytelling.
Key Deadlines:
Abstract submission deadline: 15 April 2025 (Decision by 25 April 2025)
Manuscript submission for peer-reviewed sections: 25 July 2025
Manuscript submission for non-reviewed sections: 30 November 2025
Publication: Spring 2026
